While the idea of going without food may seem daunting, many find themselves surprised by the lightness and vitality that emerges. Between day 3 and day 5, hunger pangs and weakness abate. In the absence of incoming nutrition, the body enters into a state of ketosis, in which it begins to consume fat reserves, and also autophagy, in which it consumes diseased or damaged cells.

In preparation for the water fast, you will receive a personal telephonic consultation, to ascertain your current health status and any specific challenges you may be facing. You will be sent a pre-cleanse programme sent to you in advance of the retreat. Implemented properly, over 1- 2 weeks, this offers a gentle transition to lighter foods, an increase in fibre to cleanse the gut and the addition of supplements that will reducing the detox symptoms that may be experienced during the course of the fast and enable the body to more smoothly enter a state of ketosis. You may wish to begin your retreat with several days of juice cleansing so that your digestive tract is clear before it becomes largely dormant during water fasting.

During your water fast you will drink 2-3 litres of pure spring water daily. Colonic cleansing is offered to support the process, as even without food intake, your body may require assistance to release retained matter in the gut. Liquid electrolytes prevent mineral depletion and urine analysis provides insight into the progress of your fast. Breathwork, gentle yoga and sun-gazing are encouraged to optimise levels of sustaining life-force.​​
After your water fast, the careful management of the reintroduction of solid foods is vital. it is strongly recommended that the refeeding process forms part of your retreat. We begin with diluted juice, and then whole juice and broth, whole fruits, and finally simple, easily digestible solid plant- based foods.

​While weight loss is a natural result of a water fast, to maintain a lower weight, changes to lifestyle and eating habits are usually essential.​ On retreat, you will have the opportunity to gather the tools needed to support the continuing inclusion of healthy practices in your life. A plan for the slow reintroduction of other foods will be given on the final day, assisting you in identifying and eliminating foods to which your body is reactive.​ A talk is given on how to incorporate healing foods into your every day diet, for ongoing vitality.
